Sybil, I hope you don't mind me commenting on something unrelated to this blog, but you left a message in reply to a question I put on Andreas Deja's blog about whether your father did any work in his spare time. I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to tell me about the oil painting episode! I only know about him what I have read in books, but the image of him doing that is very vivid in my head!
